Photo Reference

I just realized that I've posted several quite old pictures of myself here and that some readers out there may not know what I look like now. So, for comparison, here is a picture I just took of myself:

you can be happy that you grew up to be a better looking man than any of us thought you might be.

i like the beard.

i have been diligently searching for photographs of the bygone days and found few that i liked, fewer that i might share, and none of you and i together. i have another box to go through, so maybe. i do have a couple funny shots of Shawn Brooks. i had completely forgotten him until i unearthed a photo of him from freshman year before he dropped out of Latin. any idea what ever happened to him?

I haven't heard a peep out of Shawn for years. I seem to recall hanging out with him one afternoon the last time I was home (for the 10 yr reunion a few years back, which he--of course--refused to go to for logic that made sense only to him). Our friendship has been pretty fractured since before we graduated high school. We've only vaguely kept in touch over the years and when we do get together it always seems somewhat ackward. I probably won't even bother trying to see him this visit. I'll give you the gory details when I see you if you want.

Last I heard he was managing a Blockbuster video, or some such thing. He said he was happy, but I couldn't help think it was a waste of talent. He never did anything with his art or his writing. He's had a few girlfriends that I know of over the last 15 years, but I don't have a clue to where thats gone for him. There's more, but nothing I want tp post publicly. It'll have to wait til next month :)

The background image on this page is a Hebrew translation of the verse from Bob Dylan's song  It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), from which the title of this blog is taken. Translation courtesy of Yoram Aharon of Hod-HaSharon's page--found via YudelLine-- which has many Dylan lyrics in Hebrew.
