Pearl Leads Interfaith Dialogue
From World Jewish Congress Online:
"The father of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and murdered by Islamic extremists in Pakistan two years ago, has been leading a series of interfaith dialogues which come to the University of London this week, before continuing around the world.
The series began in the U.S. last year, after Pearl teamed up with Pakistani scholar Akbar Ahmed. After receiving a positive response in Pennsylvania last year, Pearl and Ahmed decided to take the forum to the international level.
'I decided to do this dialogue because I felt every one of us involved in living in today's world, this very difficult, changing, dangerous world, needs to be involved in interfaith dialogue, particularly between Muslims and Jews, because the Muslim-Christian and the Christian-Jewish dialogues are developed. It's happening in many parts of the world,' said Pearl."
And he's absolutely right. Jewish-Muslim dialogues are rare and relations between the two faiths have been unfortunately strained by the political situation in Israel. God willing Mr Pearl's efforts will be fruitfull.
