Silver Creek Falls

Last week I took a ride to Silver Creek Falls with my friend Misti, her boy Indy and a friend of her husband, who was visiting from Florida. She has posted some great pictures from the trip on her blog (here and here) and I thought I should share a few myself, especially since she has failed to post any pictures of me!! ;)

Glory?

Sadly these words are as appropriate now as when first written...

"I confess, without shame, that I am sick and tired of fighting—its glory is all moonshine; even success the most brilliant is over dead and mangled bodies, with the anguish and lamentations of distant families, appealing to me for sons, husbands, and fathers ... it is only those who have never heard a shot, never heard the shriek and groans of the wounded and lacerated ... that cry aloud for more blood, more vengeance, more desolation."

--Major General William Tecumseh Sherman, May 1865

Love

"Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it. It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more. " --Erica Jong

Series of Dreams

This has always been one of my favorite Dylan songs. I ran across the video on YouTube and had to share it!

I Bet He Outranks GI Joe!

I ran across this and think it si too cool for words. From Civil War Standard.com:

Grant
The most successful general of the Civil War, Ulysses S. Grant led the Army of the Potomac to victory over Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and later went on to become the 18th president of the United States. This highly collectible, limited edition figure features 30 points of articulation and includes an officer's sack coat, a belt with a U.S. eagle buckle, breeches, boots with spurs, an officer's slouch hat, a cigar, a flask, two maps and a map case. Measures 12" tall. #0C60311
ShermanPrice: $39.95

They also have a General Robert E. Lee figure and a great Maj General W.T. Sherman (complete with map of Atlanta!) among others.

The background image on this page is a Hebrew translation of the verse from Bob Dylan's song  It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), from which the title of this blog is taken. Translation courtesy of Yoram Aharon of Hod-HaSharon's page--found via YudelLine-- which has many Dylan lyrics in Hebrew.
