Stumbling Over the Truth

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick
themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.

War, what's it good for?

A couple quotes I ran across recently:

"Although a soldier by profession, I have never felt any sort of fondness for war, and I have never advocated it, except as a means of peace."
-- General Ulysses S. Grant

"There never was a time when, in my opinion, some way could not be found to prevent the drawing of the sword."

Indy All Wet (Again)

I just wanted to test blogger's new video upload thingy. The only decent video I had on my hard-drive was this one taken earlier this summer with documents my involvement in the dear drowning of a friend's toddler. It is entertaining to listen to the teenager squeal though...

Its What?

Just a clip from House that I found amusing. Man, I can't wait for season 4 to start (Well, I can wait.. in fact, I have to wait. I just don't want to...

Bob and Eric at the Crossroads

Holy Cow!

"I'll never forget September sixth nineteen-fifty. I got a letter threatening me, Hank Bauer, Yogi Berra and Johnny Mize. It said if I showed up in uniform against the Red Sox I'd be shot. I turned the letter over to the FBI and told my manager Casey Stengel about it. You know what Casey did? He gave me a different uniform and gave mine to Billy Martin. Can you imagine that! Guess Casey thought it'd be better if Billy got shot."

RIP Scooter!

I'm sad to report that Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto, former shortstop for the New York Yankees and inductee in the Baseball Hall of Fame, died today at age 89.

Philip Francis "Scooter" Rizzuto
25 September 1917 - 14 August 2007
"I guess heaven must have needed a shortstop. Phil Rizzuto's
contributions to the Yankees and the sport of baseball were immense for a period
of over 50 years. He was one of the greatest Yankees of all time and a dear,
close friend of mine whose loss is enormous to me and to the entire Yankee
family. He epitomized the Yankee spirit -- gritty and hard charging -- and he
wore the pinstripes proudly. While Scooter may have been smaller in size than
some, he was among the tallest in his stature as a Yankee. He was a favorite of
fans both as a player and later as a broadcaster. His voice and "Holy Cow" will
be part of baseball for as long as we play the game. No one deserved his place
in the Hall of Fame more than Number 10. Our condolences to his wife, Cora, and
the rest of his family

Duck, John, Macy and Indy

Since being back home I've been spending 95% of my time hanging out (and practically living with) my old friend Misti and her family. They recently relocated to a lovely house across the street from Burkart Park in Albany. We often claim that we only spend so much time there because of Indiana, her toddler, but truth be told I think we all enjoy being at the park from time to time. Sometimes you just gotta swing!
In the picture: Duck, Indy and I swing while Macy takes a break on the bench (Misti wisely stays out of the pictures by holding onto the camera!)

The Truth

"The truth that makes men free is for the most part the truth which men
prefer not to hear."
