The Wilburys Are #1 in the UK, Australia, et al.!!

Congrats to all my Wilbury cousins! Let Thy Wilbury Done!

From George Harrison.com:

THE TRAVELING WILBURYS’ 1st UK No 1
Nearly twenty years after the creation of the band and over a decade
since their music was last available, legendary supergroup The
Traveling Wilburys are at number one for the first time ever. Selling
over 110,000 units in its first week of release, The Traveling Wilburys
Collection, shot straight to the top of the UK album charts today.

On hearing the news, Olivia Harrison said "Here’s to George, Roy and
the Boys, my favourite guys. Congratulations Wilburys."

Also debuting at number 1 in the UK iTunes charts, The Traveling
Wilburys have taken the digital age by storm. The albums can be
downloaded for first time as part of the ‘digital bundle’ version of
The Traveling Wilburys Collection, which includes the video content and
a sixteen page interactive booklet with liner notes and photography of
Harrison, Dylan and friends. In addition, newcomers to this iconic rock
band can download a free introductory seven-minute video sampler via
iTunes.

As further testament to their enduring popularity, The Wilburys are
storming the charts across the world, with the Collection going in at
number 1 in countries including Australia and Ireland.

A light in the Darkness

"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being."

- Carl Gustav Jung (1875 - 1961)

"I the LORD, in My grace, have summoned you,
And I have grasped you by the hand.
I created you, and appointed you
A covenant people, a light for the nations--
Opening eyes deprived of light,
Rescuing prisoners from confinement,
From the dungeon those who sit in darkness.
"
- Isaiah 42.6-7

True Madness

"I've been a soldier and a slave. I've seen my comrades fall in battle or die more slowly under the lash in Africa. I've held them in my arms at the final moment. These were men who saw life as it is, yet they died despairing. No glory, no brave last words, only their eyes, filled with confusion, questioning "Why?" I don't think they were wondering why they were dying, but why they had ever lived. When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? To surrender dreams - -this may be madness; to seek treasure where there is only trash. Too much sanity may be madness! But maddest of all - -to see life as it is and not as it should be."

The Willie Nelson Peace Institute

I learned of Willie's cool new website via the latest Folk Uke e-newsletter:

The background image on this page is a Hebrew translation of the verse from Bob Dylan's song  It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding), from which the title of this blog is taken. Translation courtesy of Yoram Aharon of Hod-HaSharon's page--found via YudelLine-- which has many Dylan lyrics in Hebrew.
